New Extensions of the Astro Prison Vessel

Solo exhibition by Cosmo DeBrie
Jan 14 - Feb 2, 2015

You know when you feel the weight of sadness. You may feel exhausted, hopeless, and anxious. Whatever you do you feel lonely and don’t enjoy the things you once loved. Things just don’t feel like they used to. These are some symptoms of depression, a serious medical condition affecting over 20 million americans. While the cause is unknown depression may be related to an imbalance of natural chemicals between nerve cells in the APV. Cosmo DeBrie works to correct this imbalance. You just shouldn’t have to feel this way anymore.

Water McBeer is pleased to present New Extensions of the Astro Prison Vessel by Cosmo DeBrie. Working strictly in glass DeBrie has erected five new sculptural works exploring the chemical imbalances of the Astro Prison Vessel. Born 1955 in Syria, DeBrie migrated to the US where he worked as the head studio assistant of Dale Chihuly for several years until failing to pass a routine drug test in 1983. DeBrie now lives a reclusive life on the outskirts of the Los Angeles County where he studies neurology and conceptual chemistry informing his ever so prolific sculpture practice.
